AmenA is nominated to Flickapriset
AmenA is nominated to Flickapriset which is a price where PLAN International want to highlight individuals and organizations who fight for girls’ rights. This is what AmenA wrote on her FB page about this nomination:
-Being a part of their amazing work means so much, especially to someone who has been affected by war themselves. Now that I am away from it, I feel that my greatest responsibility is to spread the stories of others who are still affected by war and help them through what I have been through. Being nominated for Flickapriset 2025 feels incredibly honorable. The Flickapris draws attention to girls’ voices and focuses on their struggle in a world that lacks equality and justice.
And this is the nomination from PLAN International:
“The artist AmenA is a courageous and important voice for young girls in Sweden. As a refugee from Yemen, she has used her music and powerful personal story to raise questions about identity, self-determination, and inclusion. In Melodifestivalen 2025, she was the first Swedish artist to perform wearing a veil, which was a powerful statement against norms and for diversity.”
Who will win the 2025 Flickapriset award? We’ll find out on October 6, read more about it here.
