AMENA

February 2nd, AmenA finally releases her long-awaited debut album. The album, entitled “Guidebook”, includes the previously released singles “The Sun”, “Parasite”, “SAT” and “Empty”. Each song on the album has its own story. “Empty” is about the emotions AmenA experienced during her family’s flight from her home country of Yemen. With this song, AmenA wants to bring comfort to others in similar situations. The new single “See Me Happy”, which is also the focus track of the album, is based on the conflict that arose between AmenA and her family’s cultural values when they finally took root in Sweden. Written in the form of a letter, AmenA tells her mother the importance of living her life on her own terms and following her dreams. Today, AmenA’s mother is very proud of her daughter’s career choice.

Despite being only 22 years young, AmenA has more life experience than most. Music came early in her life and at the age of 11 she represented Yemen at an international music competition in Lebanon. However, her passion for creativity was put on hold when, three years later, she was forced to flee with her family when war broke out in Yemen in 2015. A war described by the UN as one of the worst in modern history. Today, AmenA, her five siblings and her parents are scattered around the world. Since 2019, AmenA has lived in Vimmerby and it was only when she landed in the forests of Småland that she found her way back to the safety and love of artistic creation.

With the reflective album “Guidebook”, AmenA wants to inspire people and instill hope. Because despite the uncertainty in the world, AmenA chooses to believe that there is goodness and communicates this through her emotional works.
