Only a few years ago, she captivated both the Idol jury and TV audiences with her emotive voice and unique expression.
Since then, rising star Amena Alsameai, better known by her stage name AmenA, has continued to create magical music with touching lyrics. She has performed live on both small and large stages around the country, and in 2022 AmenA entered one of Sweden’s biggest arenas when she sang a duet with Håkan Hellström in front of a sold-out Ullevi. The success was a fact.
February 2nd 2024, AmenA finally releases her long-awaited debut album. The album, entitled “Guidebook”, includes the previously released singles “The Sun”, “Parasite”, “SAT” and “Empty”. Each song on the album has its own story. Despite being only 24 years young, AmenA has more life experience than most. Music came early in her life and at the age of 11 she represented Yemen at an international music competition in Lebanon. However, her passion for creativity was put on hold when, three years later, she was forced to flee with her family when war broke out in Yemen in 2014. A war described by the UN as one of the worst in modern history.
Over the years AmenA has appeared in several major TV productions and earlier in 2025 she competed in Melodifestivalen with the song “Do Good Be Better”. In 2025 AmenA also releases her song “Nomads” which is a a thought-provoking song that highlights humanity’s inherent drive to move, survive, and find a place to call home. With roots in Yemen and her feet in Sweden, AmenA embodies eternal motion in her music—that which drives humans to leave, seek, find, and continue. One thing that is special with this song is that he verses are performed in Arabic, using the Yemeni dialect – a choice that not only honors AmenA’s origins, but also serves as a bridge back to something lost, but never forgotten.
AmenA now continues her musical journey back home in Vimmerby where she bas been based since 2019, and “Nomads” is also featured on the global project “The World Album”, where AmenA represents Yemen. The album, which was released on August 1, features artists from over 197 countries and marks a historic moment.
AmenA is today signed to All Things Live (booking agency), Argle Bargle Studios (Record Label), Clap Your Hands (PR), Ingrooves (Distribution).
