Settlers of Småland is a young band full of experienced veterans. Well… maybe not quite, but each member of the group has over 30 years of experience playing in various bands such as Smalltown, Achilles, The Stäbs, and Kidbrother, to name a few.
Although most of these acts have bordered on punk and heavier sounds, with this new group, as the name suggests, they have settled into a more melody-driven country/Americana sound. Before the first rehearsal, singer and main songwriter Martin Olsson already had something like 12 songs. He had written them while sitting in his apartment, bored to death, during the Covid era.
After seeing an American Aquarium concert in the spring of 2023, drummer Karl Torstensson and bassist Henrik Björkman came on board. On their way home from the concert, they called guitarist Jimmie Oscarsson from the car, and the band was born.
